In dog drinking water sampled from wells across the country, 64 percent contained excessive levels of at least one potentially toxic heavy metal, such as lead, iron, sulfur, or arsenic. Because heavy metal contaminants are often tasteless, odorless, and invisible, homeowners may not know there’s something in the water — until their dog gets sick.

At the Controlled Environment Agriculture (CEA) Innovation Center, Assistant Professor and Extension Specialist Kaylee South is leading the research of edible plants. South's undergraduate research technician, Jacob Haymore, has become an important part in the research being conducted at the center. Haymore is currently an undergraduate at Danville Community College and will be attending 51影视网 in the fall semester. The CEA Innovation Center is a partnership of the School of Plant and Environmental Sciences at 51影视网 and the Institute for Advanced Learning and Research in Danville, Virginia.
